Because Acumatica is partner-sold and partner-implemented, the choice of VAR is your single most consequential decision. Acumatica itself doesn't do direct implementations — your partner is your vendor, integrator, and support provider rolled into one.
1. Partner Tier and Customer Success Score
Acumatica's partner program uses a Gold/Silver tier system based on delivery volume and customer success metrics. Acumatica publishes customer success scores — ask your partner for their score and how it compares to the network average. A high score means their customers are actually using and succeeding with the system, not just going live.
2. Industry Edition Expertise
Acumatica has official Industry Editions: Manufacturing, Distribution, Construction, Retail-Commerce, and Field Service. Find a partner who has delivered the specific edition relevant to your business — not just Acumatica in general. Industry Edition configuration is meaningfully different from the core financials setup.
3. Understand Their Staffing Model
Many Acumatica partners are small, highly specialized shops. This is often a strength — you get senior, experienced resources on your project. But it also means capacity can be limited. Ask upfront about their current project load, who specifically will be on your implementation team, and what happens if a key consultant leaves.
