Epicor's financial management, CRM, and HR modules exist but are not competitive with finance-first ERPs (Sage Intacct, Oracle Cloud ERP) or CRM leaders (Salesforce, D365 Sales). Companies with finance or CRM as primary needs should look elsewhere.
Learning Curve
The depth of manufacturing functionality comes with complexity. New users report a steeper learning curve than D365 BC or NetSuite. Proper training investment is essential for successful adoption.
Smaller Partner Ecosystem
Fewer implementation partners than Microsoft, SAP, or Oracle. Finding experienced Epicor Kinetic consultants can be challenging outside of manufacturing-heavy regions. EpiCenter, Encompass, and other dedicated Epicor partners are the best options.
Complex for Simple Manufacturers
If your manufacturing is straightforward (simple BOMs, basic scheduling), Epicor may be overkill. D365 BC Premium or Odoo Manufacturing can handle basic production at lower cost and complexity.
Limited Process Manufacturing
While Epicor handles batch processing, it doesn't match Infor CloudSuite for deep process manufacturing (formulation, potency, co/by-product management, shelf-life). Pure process manufacturers should evaluate Infor or SAP.
